Fresh Ground Stories - May 15
Seattle’s longest-running personal storytelling show is coming to the Swedish Club and is open to our Members! Fresh Ground Stories is where people come together to share true stories from our lives. Some are funny, some are poignant, but all of them are true and told by the folks who lived them. Stories are told live onstage without notes and every month has a theme. May’s theme is, “It seemed like a good idea at the time.”
Join the FGS Meetup group if you’d like to get the monthly invites. They also have a free online monthly workshop if you’d like help crafting your story. For more info, email Paul Currington at freshgroundstories@gmail.com

Member's & Meatballs - May 21st With Dr. Nels Iverson
Dr. Nels Iverson is a research scientist at the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, where he manages the electron microprobe laboratory. Born and raised among the wheat fields of Eastern Washington, with family roots in the Skagit Valley, Nels discovered his passion for volcanology while attending the University of Hawai'i at Hilo. He later moved to New Mexico to pursue advanced studies, focusing on volcanoes in Antarctica. Nels earned both his Master’s and Ph.D. in Geochemistry from New Mexico Tech. His research centers on using volcanic ash preserved in ice cores, marine sediments, and terrestrial deposits as time markers to link different regions of the Earth's geological record.
